In collaboration with Code For America, we are extremely excited to announce one of the prizes for DCGOV! One winning team from the weekend will earn a spot in the finalist round of CfA’s Civic Accelerator!
This is a tremendous opportunity to create something impactful and tripledown on your momentum coming out of Startup Weekend. Chances like this are few and far between. If you’re interested in e-government and civic innovation, but don’t yet have a startup you’re applying to the accelerator with…then join us at Startup Weekend DCGOV to launch your own, potentially win, and accelerate your world. Life is too short to make a small impact. Go big and do good.
Through a competitive, four-month program, the CfA Accelerator will “turbo-charge” select civic startups by providing them a springboard to amplify market awareness of their product, additional funding (a $25K seed grant), business mentoring specific to the Gov 2.0 space, and introductions to a broad network of civic leaders and potential investors.
Every month, accepted teams will attend week-long “retreats” in SF packed with trainings, talks, and networking events; full time relocation is not required.
The program is being led by serial entrepreneur, Ron Bouganim, with the support of a strong advisory board featuring Caterina Fake, Peter Schwartz, Ron Conway, and Aneesh Chopra, as well as an all-star set of industry, civic, and venture capital mentors, including Jeff Clavier, Bryce Roberts, and Ted Rheingold, Marci Harris, and Ryan and Mike Alfred.
The program will start in August 2012.
